Andres De Blust-Mommaerts to teach contemporary dance during July Intensives


 

Do not miss the rare opportunity to work with a world-renowned choreographer! Andres De Blust – Mommaerts will be teaching contemporary dance at our July Intensive to be held at the Mosa Ballet School from 13th to 20th of July 2023.

Andres De Blust-Mommaerts was born in Colombia. He started dancing from a very young age and took his first classes at Dansstudio Arabesque in Antwerp.

After graduating from the Royal Ballet School in Antwerp (KBA) he joined the École-Atelier Rudra Maurice Béjart in Lausanne, Switzerland. He began his professional career at Béjart Ballet, both as a member of the corps de ballet and as a soloist. 

From 2008 to 2012 he was in the Richard Alston Company in London, UK. He then joined Ballet des Saarländischen Staatstheaters/Donlon Dance Company, in Saarbrucken, Germany for the 2012-2013 season, where in addition to performing he also choreographed and made costumes. 

Later in 2013 he went on to the Tanztheater in Trier, Germany, where he stayed for two seasons, also contributing choreography and costumes.

In summer 2015 he moved to the USA and worked as a dancer, costume and wig designer for the Mystic Ballet in Connecticut, while also teaching at their School.

From October 2016 to May 2019 he performed with the METDance Company in Houston, Texas, creating works for several companies and teaching at various studios. Upon returning to Belgium Andres decided to become a certified teacher and in 2021, he graduated in Dance Education for secondary schools from the Artesis Plantijn Highschool in Antwerp. 

He is a well sought-after teacher and choreographer and currently mainly teaches at the Art Humanities in Brussels and Ghent and at Dansstudio Arabesque in Antwerp.
